شعار سال ۲۱ اردیبهشت ماه، سالروز به دار آویخته شدن دکتر ابراهیم حشمت طالقانی ، پزشک نهضت جنگل است. نسب وی به اسپهبدان مازندران می‌رسید. خاندان دکتر حشمت پس از پایان کار اسماعیلیه، از کوهستان‌های نور مازنداران به سوی طالقان مهاجرت می‌کنند. بر اساس کتاب «دکتر حشمت و اندیشه اتحاد اسلام در جنبش جنگل »، نوشته شادروان میرابوالقاسمی ، ابراهیم حشمت فرزند اول، «عباسقلی حشمت الاطبا » است که۱۰ سال پیش از کشته شدن ناصرالدین شاه به دنیا آمد.
براساس بسیاری از منابع تاریخی از جمله کتاب «سردار جنگل» اثر ابراهیم فخرایی و کتاب «نام‌ها و نامدارهای گیلان» اثر جهانگیر سرتیپ پور ، دکتر حشمت روز چهارم اردیبهشت ماه ۱۲۹۸ هجری شمسی به دار آویخته می‌شود. این کتاب‌ها -که متاسفانه بعدها به عنوان مرجع بسیاری از منابع تاریخی قرار می‌گیرند- حاوی اشتباهی است که مرتب باز تولید می‌شد. بر سنگ قبر قبلی دکتر حشمت، تا پیش از اینکه المان جدید ساخته شود، نیز تاریخ شهادت دکتر حشمت، چهارم اردیبهشت ۱۲۹۸ شمسی حک شده بود.
یکی از پژوهشگران تاریخ نهضت جنگل، تقویم تطبیقی وقایع هفت‌ساله نهضت جنگل را تهیه و منتشر کرده است. در این تقویم تاریخی واقعه شهادت دکتر حشمت طالقانی، روز ۲۱ اردیبهشت ماه ۱۲۹۸شمسی درج شده است.
